The Beautiful Game – Glenn Hoddle

9 08 2008

“I hear that Glenn Hoddle’s found God… that must have been one hell of a pass.” (Jasper Carrott)

I always get like this at this time of year, as the new football season is almost upon us and we can look forward (hopefully) to a new season of thrilling football, exciting new signings, amazing goals and Ashley Cole making himself look a prat.

To whet my appetite I’ve been looking up some football videos on YouTube.com. If you can be bothered to search, there are some amazing videos to be found, stuff you thought you’d forgotten about. And if you can’t be bothered to look, you can just sit right there and let me bring you a whole bunch of short videos designed to renew your faith in the beautiful game.

First up: five minutes of the most exquisitely talented Englishman of the modern generation – Glenn Hoddle.

Secondly: a reminder to everyone at their that they are welcome to join the first annual GrumpyOldFootballers fantasy league. We play the fantasy league game hosted by the premier league themselves, which involves picking a squad of fifteen players worth £100m pounds. The game is open to everyone – not just friends, relatives and work-based acquaintances – so if you just happen to stop by this site, please feel free to join. If you’re already a member of the premier league game then you can still enter out league – any team in the game can be entered in up to 10 private leagues.

To play, all you need to do is head over to http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ and select your team. When you’ve picked it, click on the Leagues link and enter the code 210826-49183.That’s it – that’s all you need to do!
